Our tour guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at 6:30 a.m. to begin your exciting Alexandria day tour. We will take a car from Cairo to Alexandria, which is Egypt's most significant city on the Mediterranean.
Our first stop will be the Citadel of Qaitbey, a 15th-century fortress located in the harbor that offers stunning views of the sea. You can still see the ruins of the old Alexandria lighthouse from here. Next, we will visit the Kom el Shoqafa catacombs, which are fascinating archaeological sites from the 1st century. This is the largest Roman cemetery in Alexandria, with three floors carved out of rock. Here, you can see over 300 mummies, as well as various burial deities and other Greco-Roman symbols.
For lunch, we will take you to a seafood restaurant where you can sample some of Egypt's most iconic dishes. Afterward, we will visit the Serapeum Temple Ruins and Pompey's Pillar, where some historians believe the famous Roman general was buried.
Finally, we will visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, one of the most important cultural centers in the eastern Mediterranean. You will have some free time to explore the vast library and learn about its fascinating history. In the late afternoon, we will return you to your hotel in Cairo.
